Reader was not the
intuitive athlete that Allen was and not as active on the field from what little I saw. Now I will defer to the staff who see them everyday...but I'd kinda rather have a player that goes 100mph in the wrong direction than one that goes 50mph and ends in the right spot. Many players get excited and follow instincts when playing rather than the process of the play-call. That's a coaching thing...and an uncontrolled player thing. Coaching can help reinforce that lesson until a player gets it right or doesn't and gets DAllen
-ed...cut!!
Just sayin that I like those guys that are a bit unbridled cuz they can do magical things sometimes...other times they are out of position. CB Peters is a great example of this. imo His instincts lead him to freestyle sometimes and he gives up big plays...but instead of cutting him they try and curb his impulses and chance taking to be more deliberate. It either works or it doesn't. I would pick a DAllen over a Reader everyday of the week and hope I can coach them into the discipline they need to trust their instincts - to use
at the right time.
just my 2 cents...
