I gather all our California people are fine, which is good news.
I've now been in earthquakes in 3 different parts of the country.
When I lived in San Diego, I was in 4 or 5. Not really sure I remember how many.
Before that I was in an earthquake in northern Illinois. I even had a minor injury in that one. Had to have stitches on my scalp just behind my hairline (ran out of a shaking building and hit my head carelessly while doing it). I was the only injury. I know that because a reporter called to say I was the only injury, would I make a statement. (He had checked hospital records, I was in ER long enough to get stitched up.) I was too embarassed, so I said no.
I moved to Maine a couple of decades back. I sort of thought my earthquake days were behind me. One day in 2012 it rumbled and shook for a bit and I said, this is Maine, this can't be an earthquake...but it sure feels like an earthquake. Checked the news and sure enough, it was an earthquake. A 4 point 6-er. Not as bad as some of the California quakes I was in but still, a little reminder that the earth under our feet is sometimes not so solid.
