2nd contracts have nothing to do with the elite players and their 3rd and 4th contracts. They are not a measure either way. They don't factor into it.
Except you're right that a 2nd contract qb is never going to get more than the highest 3rd & 4th contract qbs...though sometimes, 3rd and 4th contract qbs end up with less than 2nd contract qbs (eg. Brees and Luck are both around 25 M, but that only had to do with the year they came up. Dak will get more than them only because of the year HE came up.)
2nd contracts are their own market and they just keep steadily going up. But the 3rd and 4th contract market has nothing to do with how much they go up.
And Wentz and Goff will get more than Dak because their deals come up in a different year than Dak's. It will have nothing to do with anyone's perception of "who's better."
