I would not look at it as wanting him so much that they gave up two 3rds to get him. I simply think when Snead targets a guy, he will overpay in order to secure that guy. He did the same thing with the Husky DT, he overpaid to assure we got they guy he wanted. It is very shrewd to go for RB in the 3rd rd. There is no other position at that point (aside maybe TE) where you can find a player that can have a large role/impact right away.
I may be in denial, I admittedly am a big fan of Gurley, and will continue to take an optimistic approach with his knee.

Yeah, Snead clearly had to trade up for the targeted Gaines, backer. As he did for Henderson. But the need for a Henderson was created by uncertainty about Gurley’s knee.
And I, too, am a huge Gurley fan on multiple levels.
