People need to stop freaking out about Gurley's knee. This overreaction is out of control. He did not "disappear" in the Super Bowl. He had no blocking. Rams identified a player they wanted and can have a big impact for the team. This will add a new dimension to the offense we did not have. If Gulrey gets hurt, M Brown will step into that role, and Henderson's role will stay the same, or maybe increase some. I do think we may see an Ingram/Kamara type scenario which should keep TG3 fresh. Gurley is still a HUGE part of the O, let's not write him off just yet.
* Let's cross our fingers that the O Line can stay healthy and Noteboom and Allen can step in and perform. I was hoping for C Ford to slide to #31 to fortify the O Line. He did, but Rams preferred to pass and accumulate picks. I can't really argue with that, and I was prepared for the situation to play out as it did. I think Rapp will be a great player, and think the move down worked out pretty good in the end, just worry a bit about Allen.
go rams.
Something is going on with Gurley’s knee, backer. Let’s don’t kid ourselves.
I mean, Snead was forced to use two 3rds to tradeup for Henderson. He had to have a powerful reason to do such a thing.
Now, it’s entirely possible that Gurley can be “managed” in such a way that he remains quite effective when on the field. But there is no way that the Rams would have given him that humongous contract just last year if they had a crystal ball. And no way that they tradeup for Henderson if they weren’t concerned about Gurley. Gurley will get fewer snaps in ‘19, and probably a LOT fewer. Sigh...
A top drawer RB that is a serious threat both running and receiving is essential to this O. Henderson now assures that, Gurley or no Gurley. I do think that DH will allow McVay to put in some serious new wrinkles, though. Our jet sweep and screen game just got even better.
