The nice thing about trading for Vets is that some other team had to pay the signing bonus and that becomes their dead money. If the performance is still good you are always getting the player at a discount.

Pats do seem to be the king of trading and grabbing a vet in the trade. They also trade back years sometimes and end up with a bunch of picks that way too.
