I will never understand why fans gravitate toward experienced backup QBs. Sure there are situations where you have a veteran that use to be good and because of injury may not be quite the same player, but maybe can fill in and provide good veteran leadership.
However, many times it is somebody who had all the opportunity in the world to be a starter, but failed, failed again.
So what is that experience? Experience of being a bad Quarterback in the NFL.
I much prefer going with an unknown that may be a good QB if given the chance. I believe there are QBs out there that would have been much better players than the retread QBs if they were ever given the chance.
Took many years before Kurt Warner got his chance. Same with Trent Green. Of course, they had the blessing of Martz, so I guess you could say many QBs may work out for McVay too, who is like Martz in getting players to play better, but still, I go with the unknown over Bortles.
