He was just as culpable as Goff or the OL for the bad performance by the offense.
This doesn’t change the fact that Goff needs to take the next step. More will be put on his shoulders and rightfully so with the big contract imminent.
Isn't that equally true of the OL, McVay, and the offensive coaches?
So why pretend it's not equally true of the whole offense?
I think focusing it on the qb is bad analysis. Name all the active qbs who you think perform effectively when their OL is overwhelmed. I can think of 2, and in both cases they can stumble too (Brady and Wilson).
I assume a qb who his entire career has shown growth from year to year will just keep doing that. Not sure why people have to act like it's this melodramatic, make or break thing. Or why people let one game throw their entire view out of whack. I know some people annointed him after the NFC championship game and then took it back after the superbowl. To me that's not analysis, that's just being on an emotional roller coaster.
....
It’s acceptable to look at each area and have an opinion. Somehow you ignored that I said McVay and the OL had their own problems.
My point is that an experienced proficient QB would have done better than Goff, even with the poor OL play and McVays problems. I don’t put scoring only 3 points only on McVay and the OL. Goff depends a lot more on McVay holding his hand and good pass pro more than Brady or Wilson, or any other top QB for that matter. To ignore that is blind analysis.
