A fair critical position on Goff is to say let’s see how he does next year. Will he get better? We shall see. But I have no reason to doubt him when he’s gotten better every year.
But he didn't say he performed poorly. That is a clear statement. You're probably right that he meant how he performed but as I said, "if" he meant that the didn't prepare as much as he should have for example. I would find fault with him.
It makes no sense that he would be inferring that he slacked off In his preparation. He was working intensively with McVay for 2 weeks, what could he have been doing, not paying attention in the meetings? Come on. We heard Whit sing Goffs praises the way he handled the team in the huddle in the Superdome.
