So, is that thinking too much or thinking wrongly. In year 3 a disguised coverage shouldn't fool him, should it?
Why not? Why do you think that Brady just had his first post-season game without a TD since, when?
Because Wade fooled him a lot with disguised coverages.
And a third year qb is still too young to be anywhere near as good as a 19 year vet. But the 19 year vet struggled too.
As a rule young qbs do not do well in a superbowl. That includes Marino and Roethlisberger. Heck even Brady in superbowl 36 basically just threw 27 times for 145 yards, so they mostly just kept him safe.

Not sure bringing Brady into the mix is productive. All that does is deflect from the issue, which on this thread is Goff. But since you bring in others, how long has it been since any of those guys produced 3 points in a Super Bowl?
So, the issue is Goff's problems not Brady. And I guess Goff's failures were worse than Marino, Roethlisberger, Brady. 2 of those guys won.
So, if play action is the major thing Rams do, then Goff has to do a better job not being fooled because he had a touchdown there and missed it by being late and allowing a guy from 19 yards away to break up a pass.
The point is that there is no age limit on a qb being fooled by a disguised coverage. If Brady was why wouldn't the young Goff be.
Not sure how you are using the term "deflection" but the point is simple. And easy to grasp.
Vet qbs are routinely fooled by disguised coverages so why wouldn't young ones be?
Thought the logic of that was pretty straightforward and obvious.
And irrefutable actually.
(Mahomes btw, who is a generational phenom unlike anyone we have seen for decades, and no standard model for what good young qbs are usually like, has been fooled by disguised coverages...the Rams did it to him as a matter of fact),
