This is in my opinion...
Many on the board, are not thinking of the "what could be". If last night didn't give you an indication of the need for a real TE, then I don't know if they will ever understand.
A real TE creates spaces...creates a match up issue...nobody cares about our TEs. You don't even need to game plan for them.
I won't go back and review but I'm going to put it at 95%...Gerald Everett is thrown to outside the numbers. He lacks any physicality required to be that guy who can do down the middle...run the seam to clear out the middle.
I'm not asking for a Gronk. But...when you have a decent TE...look how he can run the seam or take LBs, safeties out off the middle to open up those short crossing or dig patterns. Plus, they actually become a red zone threat...something the Rams need to address this off season.
Kupp, while missed, would become a real Edelman type threat IMO if we had that talent on the team. Don't get me wrong, Kupp is good...but he would be even better if he had some spaces like Edelman did last night...one on one.
Higbee...nice move the chains guy. Good second TE. Everett...undersized TE...really a big WR...without the hops.
People talk of our TE's progressing. Progressing from 0 to 5 miles an hours is a crawl. It's like going no where.
Everett reminds me a bit of Quick. There is hope that next season will be it. Well...it's not...and it won't.
This team has more than defense to address...they have holes on offense on the interior line and at TE.
