When your "worst acquisition" of the past two years is Marcus Peters, you're doing pretty well....
Well I would say in advance and in fact did say in advance that personnel acquisition with Snead as part of the acquisition collaboration team was good all the way back to 2012. I was one of those who defended him after 2016, in the wake of a lot of people questioning him. I stood up to a lot of "Rams drafts sukk" posts in the 2017 off-season.
Having said that, it's never perfect.
Peters was not a fit, it's not clear they can or should keep him, and they had to struggle to adapt the defense to him. '
Watkins, similar thing.
That;s a 2nd and 3rd round pick right there.
What makes me puzzled is all the people who point to a couple of bad picks in 2012-2016 and said see he sukked.
Then they overlook Watkins and Peters now, and say see he's great.
NOPE.
He was good all along. He has the same general percentage of hits and misses all along. He never sukked and he never reached transcendent flawless greatness. The big difference between 2012-16 and 2017-18 is that McVay is a better collaborator/evaluator than previous guys when it comes to TEs and WRs. That's the only real difference.
Well I don't know maybe not the only difference. If Noteboom is a hit like it looks like he is, then Kromer is a better collaborator/evaluator than Boudreau was. Boudreau's strong suit seemed to be vets, both FAs and cast-off types. Kromer does that too but he's better at drafting, it seems.
Again, add it all up, and there;s the same general overall good work.
