The Saints have a very talented defense that is also good against the run. They made a decision to work really had on taking away the running game and using the crowd to upset the passing game. Early on it seemed to work really well but then Goff got it together and we squeaked one out.
As for Gurley I just think that for whatever reason he was not ready to play. He dropped 2 easy passes that were in critical situation with one resulting in a interception and 3 points. The other cost us a first down and a chance at a touchdown. He also missed a key block that resulted in a broken play. I don't think you can attribute any of these errors on his knee so the only conclusion I can come up with is that Gurley was not mentally prepared. McVay seemed to notice and kept him on the sidelines rather than risk another miscue.
Why was Gurley not ready to play? Wish I knew but that will never come out. Lets hope Gurley and the coaching staff figure out how to get him ready for the Big Game.
