TO go from Fisher to McVay is the tale of 2 extremes. One of the worst offenses coaches in league history to one of the best.
He is obviously somewhat a product of his current environment and losing Kupp was just a major blow, as well as, Gurley's health.
I still think he is a fairly good QB, kind of like Bulger with Martz, but I have no problem with complimenting him with a strong running game when they can figure out a way to get it to work.
What I do have a problem of is running just to be running and when the run is not working, you either fix it during the game, or pass the ball if that gives you a better chance to get first downs. What you don't do is run it for 2.5 or 2.7 yards per carry, get in bad down and distance situations, and punt the ball over and over.
It cost the Cowboys the game by not being more aggressive. If Goff fails, so be it, but it is almost an absolute guarantee that against good teams if you try to run and keep trying to run when it is not working, YOU WILL LOSE!
The exception would be for a dominant defensive performance or winning the turnover battle. I guess in that scenario, you can back into the win with running and punting.
