Eagles dont run well the run to keep you honest
So many teams abandon the run when playing catch up with them and their secondary is not very good
Dallas had the 5th ranked run defense.... run the ball!!!
Our passing game success is directly tied to our ability to run the ball
The signature of abandoning the run to play catch up is not a low ypc. It's a higher ypc but fewer carries.
For example Atlanta, which manages a decent 4.5 yards a carry, in 2 games against the Saints averaged 19 carries per game for 37 yards per game, which is a 1.95 ypc.
In contrast, the Rams against Green Bay. GB is 2nd in the league in ypc, averaging 5.0. Against the Rams GB only ran 19 times, though it was for 106 yards. That's a ypc of 5.56.
That works out the same general way all season.
Saints opponents will have a low ypc as a rule which means the run D was legit. Even Dallas, in their win against the Saints, averaged only 3.2 yards a carry, which means they stuck with it in spite of it not really working (normal Dallas ypc is 4.5 ypc).
Rams opponents will have a high ypc as a rule which means the run D was a problem, whether the other team abandoned the run to play catch up or not.
