Great post 43... I rarely post and love to just sit back and read all the interactions. It's so entertaining! However, I do have something to add in regard to the previous posts on this board comparing Goff to Cousins, bad games, head to head matchups and whether or not he's getting paid.
Comparing Goff to Cousins is ridiculous other than the fact both QB's improved under McVay's guidance. Cousin's is 5-25 against teams with winning records and Goff is already 10-7.
In head to matchups, Goff has already beaten Wilson (3 times), Rivers, Mahomes, Brees and Rogers. I guess you can include Dak in there too for those of you that are Skip Bayless fans. Additionally, Goff carried the team and was the main reason we beat Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Lastly, every QB has bad games and misses throws. To judge a QB on one or two playoff games or a bad three game stretch rather than a complete body of work just doesn't make sense. Take a look at Drew Brees weeks 11-14...
Week 12: 171 yards, 4 TD’s and and 1 INT against the Falcons (Atlanta had 4 turnovers just like the Whiners)
Week 13: 127 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT, 201 yards against the Cowboys
Week 14: 201 yards 1 TD and 1 INT against the Bucs,
Week 15: 203 yards, 0 TD’s and 1 INT against the Panthers
Let's be honest, those aren't exactly MVP stats for Brees but he's still in the conversation. Goff is just the whipping boy because he's the #1 pick, some think we gave away too much in the trade with the Titans, or some posters here can't accept the fact they jumped on the "Goff's a bust bandwagon" under Mr. 7-9 and Goff' has proven everyone wrong. If you watched any of those Saints games, Brees had bad throws, missed open receivers, made a couple bad decisions, etc... I'm sure we can pull up similar three or four game stretches for EVERY elite QB at some point in their careers.
Bottom line... 43's post is 100% on the mark and Goff is going to get paid. There's no chance... actually never say never... there's a very, very small percentage chance Goff isn't getting paid regardless of the outcome of the playoffs. Goff will be our QB for many years to come.
I welcome all your rebuttals... bring it on.
