If I had to guess I would say a strained knee....why???
He was tackled from behind (I don't remember the game) and the defender layed on the back of his legs as they went out of bounds. It is similar to getting rolled up on as an offensive lineman.
After that play he hasn't seemed as aggressive and confident running the ball.

It was against the Chiefs and that is why they went away from him. Seemed better against the Lions, but he had the bye, but against the Bears and Eagles, it was obvious something was wrong and might have been affecting the play calling. Adding Anderson was huge and the fact that he runs better with the zone blocking scheme, helped the transition and Anderson ran well between the tackles, albeit, it was against the Cardinals, but McVay proved he could stick with the turn.
