The NFL us not in the business of comedy.. It is smartly doing its best to make the game safer. One way that isn't even debatable anymore is to eliminate the helmet to helmet contact. The problem is that it is a very difficult call if one wants consistency. Players have been tackling helmet to helmet since youth football. The emphasis to stop tackling in that matter has only come in recent years. Its close to impossible to take away what has become a natural instinct for many. Unfortunately the science is clear that head to head violence is responsible for the many instances of brain disease that most all peer reviewed research confirms. Of course football, at any level, is the most violent team sport we have. What the NFL is trying to do is not to eliminate the associated violence but to eliminate the disease caused by the violence. Whether they can actually do that is no joke.
