When the running game and penalties put him in bad situations, he had a hard time rising to the occasion.
What troubled me the most again, was the lack of hurry up in the hurry up offense with like 7 minutes left. Down by 2 scores, the Rams proceeded to piddle and burned up 2-3 minutes with a handful of plays and again used most of the play clock.
Goff has been playing well when he has the running game. In this case, it was clear, there was going to be no running game. The Bears were not going to allow it and it was either he steps up which he did not or the Rams run it and punt it.
Your last sentence is spot on. The bears stacked the box HEAVY and dared the Rams to do something about it...They didn't and Goff look putrid. This is a copycat league...The Lions and now the Bears slowed us down. You can expect every team moving forward to stack the box (to stop Gurley) and let Goff try to beat them. You can bet your bottom dollar Philly does the same this week (the only saving grace is that their secondary is in shambles, so it may not work).
