To add to what Sag said, a team can't just offer to pay McVay a bazillion dollars because he is under contract with the Rams which means that any team needs the Rams permission to even speak to him or his agent.
Any offer or contact with him for employment purposes without the Rams permission is illegally interfering with a contract. So before any of that could happen, if McVay wanted to talk to another team, it would mean that the relationship between him and the Rams has already soured.
If his relationship with the Rams is good, there is zero chance someone can "steal" him away.
