but as of late, the rush up the middle has been going no where. And, how does one define up the middle...the 3 and 4 holes only? Or does it include the 2 and 5 holes. So, I question what the average you list actually reflects. I really have no issue with him running in the 1, 2, 5 and 6 holes.
Most of Gurley's big runs, as I see it come outside the guard to off tackle. Yesterday, when he ran it up the gut it was stuffed over and over again.
McVay kept running it up the gut and we continuously were in 2nd and 3rd and long. That is one reason we could put up long extended drives...in addition to Goff being erratic on his accuracy. I'll assume McVay saw something in the film that made him think he could go right up the middle...but since Detroit brought in Harrison from the Giants, they have been pretty stout.
As for security...I'll disagree...he scares the bejeebies out of me...I admire his pocket presence but his inability to move quickly out of the pocket with that ball sticking out is nothing but trouble...especially since he is not afraid to hold the ball longer in the pocket.
