This team wouldn’t remotely be in this position without him
We quickly forget he just ran a game winning drives along with 5 TDs in the game of the year
I don't think anyone's taking Goff for granted but while he's played very well at times, he's been pretty shaky at times too. With McVay's history of coaching up QB's I think there is reason to wonder if he couldn't just plug another QB into his system and continue to have success.
Was Cousins something special that would have put up numbers no matter where he played or was he a 4th rounder that McVay got good numbers out of? Goff was drafted #1 overall but are we to assume that he would have put up good numbers without McVay? Makes it hard to assume when he struggled so much without him. I believe RGIII had his best year under McVay and Cousins went from a 4th round nobody to a pro-bowler.
So, is it reasonable to assume McVay might be able to find another QB and get production out of him if he didn't have Goff? I think so. Maybe even Mannion. He was drafted higher than Cousins.
Sorry, not buying what ever it is your selling here.
Goff is an elite QB, he has proven it....they don't grow on trees.
He's been one of the most consistent QB's in the NFL the last two years and is only 24 years old.
You don't just throw in Mannion and think he's gonna pull off what Goff did vs Cheifs, Vikings, Saints, etc....
