Kurt Warner had been undrafted, cut, and practice squad with Rams as a 3rd stinger.
His career pass efficiency before Martz was: 47.2 on just 11 attempts
His first 3 seasons with Martz: 1999 - 109, 2000 - 98, 2001 - 101
He taught him how to prepare for the game and how to read and anticipate coverages.
I believe it is highly unlikely that Kurt Warner would have been in the Hall of Fame had he not been working with Martz and had any of the other Rams coaches since 1990 other than McVay.
when I see what Goff was last year versus what Goff was this year, that is McVay. The parallels of McVay and Martz is simply amazing how players all of a sudden took off in their careers.
It is preparation, mental approach, attitude, confidence, and all the little things that have made the difference. Of course, it is offensive design and creating space for play makers and giving the QB options which McVay is the best that I have seen and Martz was the best during his era. Hence, we have been treated to of the best offenses in NFL history.
