Quinn always had more sacks than Fowler. On the other hand, Quinn was a full time starter.
So, to me, Fowler does not equal Quinn. On the other hand, Quinn was very poor in stopping the run game. I really don't know how Fowler is in that regard.
But.....Quinn is a classic hand in the dirt 4-3 speed rush DE, while Fowler has been miscast in that regard. He'll likely do better as a 3-4 speed rush OLB who gets to move around, and operates from a standing position.
Rams couldn't afford to keep Quinn; but I have no doubt they would have preferred to.
