I agree with most of that. However, IMO, even if the Rams win 10 SBs in a row and the next season they play the Vikings here there will be sizable Viking crowd there simply because of the number of Viking fans that live here and its there only time to see their team in person. Much like the Packer fans yesterday. The only time they could see their team in person. That dynamic will always be in play no matter how good and how long the Rams will be good. The real change will be when children today that live here become Ram fans but that will mean they are not born from a family rooted with other teams. So its really an issue not easily solved. My answer is that as the Rams performance showed yesterday it doesn't seem to bother them -at least now.
I agree that the Rams will never have the staunchly devoted fans that the Cowboys have because it's just different there. Not better or worse necessarily, but definitely different. My dad was born in El Paso and he's the same way. Grew up in California and has barely lived in Texas but he's still got that Texas pride. In a way, it's admirable. In another way, it's weird.
L.A. isn't like that. People here just aren't wired the same way. In some ways I wish we could maintain that loyalty and pride but our fandom is most certainly conditional. Right or wrong. But the last time I saw that sort of thing where I am was when Shaq and Kobe were 3-peating. There were Lakers clothes and hats and flags on cars and everyone was united. It was pretty great. I can see the appeal. But it's going to take quite a bit for the Rams to transcend to that level. There are many Raiders, 49ers, Cowboys...Packers(!) fans in SoCal. But back-to-back or more Super Bowls would see the blue and gold contingent swell.
