I'm just playing devils advocate here so don't take any of this the wrong way. But what's in it for anyone to try to create a buzz around the Rams? Suppose 15 million people typically tune in to watch the Packers on Sunday Night Football. The NFL has no reason to hype the Rams unless the time, effort, and money they will have to put in will result in more than 15 million people tuning in to watch the Rams. Otherwise it makes sense to just put the Packers on. Now, if interest grows in the Rams and their undefeated status and their exciting style of play, etc. and some market study says that now the Rams will draw 16 million viewers guess what? The Rams will be on Sunday Night Football instead of the Packers.

For a different perspective, why do they air Cardinals games in Arizona every week? They are 1-6, going nowhere, I assume playing consistently lousy football. This week they play the 1-6 49ers. Compelling football? I think not. So why not put the Rams-Packers game on in Arizona instead? The answer: most people in Arizona would rather watch 'their team' than see a good game. Well, the same thing works on a national level: people in the USA would rather watch 'their team' (Dal, GB, NE, ...) instead of seeing a good game.
