Yeah, I see what you are saying. It is hard to critique not running enough when they called 35 runs and 35 passes (not counting the final two kneel downs). There were a couple head scratching calls to me. One to me being the 3rd down pass from the Denver 19 where Goff was sacked and Santos then missed from 47. But we do have to maintain perspective. McVay is bold, not arrogant. And sometimes what he is being bold doing will not work.
Totally agree about enjoying the ride. Late in 2001 I would say to myself enjoy this, it will not last forever. And it did not. All that losing in years after taught me to enjoy the Rams more as entertainment and a fun hobby and not obsess over little things or think Super Bowl or bust.
Perspective matters. I always think back to after the 2001 divisional playoff win vs GB the Rams won 45-17. I was griping to a friend about how the offense had only scored 24 points that day. He was like- Dude....just.... shut up.... He was right....
