I wonder how much of this is subconsciously being lackadaisical, being too casual about following assignments, or perhaps not having a sense of urgency, etc is due to realizing the offense is going put up 35 points every game. Gotta believe that's just human nature allowing all of that to creep in.
I think it's the opposite. It's doing too much to make a play. People don't go against the defense and try to make plays if they lack urgency.
