I agree having an elite RB is not required but rarity of player is still a huge factor.

What's better than having a franchise/elite QB? Having an elite QB AND RB.

A logical outgrow from my point is try to have both. I definitely am not saying forego the elite QB. The surest way to have both is to draft the most rare player or position when it becomes available.

If current trends hold, a franchise QB will be available the next year. And since your point is valid, that is a team lacking a franchise QB won't be good, your team would be in position to draft high the next year to nab the franchise QB.
