The run D went to the MIKE (AO) and NT.

Anyone who thought the run D would improve simply by replacing Quinn would just be wrong.

Besides, they upgraded MIKE (Littleton) and nose (Suh). They didn't upgrade OLB. They just went with what they had.

Odd. It seems the defensive coordinator and general manager agree with "most"--hence they are both gone. By replacing Quinn with an average (but more balanced) LB has immediately made them better against the run.

Quinn is gone because they needed money to sign Suh. Not one single thing from the Rams ever indicated the issue was the way you seem to define it.

Meanwhile they're not better against the run. Not yet.

They may be 9th in yards rushing allowed, but they;re the 27th worst in yards per carry. (Last year they were 30th.) They are also 3rd lowest in rushing attempts. This does not mean they fixed the run defense yet. It means the offense scores enough to take opposing teams out of the run game.

The run D still needs work. At this point it's hard to say if it;s the middle or the outside that is the problem.
