I've heard people say Goff has problems in the redzone, but my view is that McVay has the bigger problem. He wasn't good in Washington in the redzone, either.
I don't get why he gets away from the OPOY inside the 10 yard line. Why doesn't he design good running plays and run them there?
Gurley averaged over 5 yards/carry against a suspect Raiders D, yet McVay didn't capitalize on Gurley in the redzone. He's got to fix that.
And I don't buy the rust excuse. He needs to call things better inside the 10 yard line. Its getting to the point where defenses expect McVay to throw the ball inside the 10 and won't give him any wide open throws. McVay just makes it harder on himself and Goff when he continues to get stuck in pass mode near the goal line.
Let's hope McVay doesn't have a permanent mental block in the redzone and figure out how to run Gurley near the goal line more consistently.
