Regarding that last FG - the one that made it 26-13 with 3:15 to play - my impression watching the game was that the Rams were way more interested in running time off the clock than they were in scoring a TD. As it was the drive took 4:43 off the clock, forced Oakland to use their second timeout, and left the Rams with a 13 point lead with 3:15 left.
In my mind it's like when a team gets the ball at midfield with a lead, runs three dives for 3 yards, and punts. Yes, it's a 3-and-out ... but it's a different 3-and-out than when a team is down by a score and can't move the ball. Had the Raiders game been closer I would expect a different approach by McVay, and potentially a different result.
Not counting that drive the Rams were 2-for-4 (and I know 50% isn't good enough), but context of that 5th trip to the redzone is important, at least to me.
