Looking forward to our posters examining what was a superb win
thought Aaron's sack was not roughing, but others saw a facemask at the end of that play I missed.
Hate that field.
Concerns about being "light in the pants" at linebacker. Jared Cook made everyone look small
Was ready to condemn Littleton after his early play, but he did improve as the game went on.
There's a moment in there that I thought they'd be wise to get some snaps to Kiser. Just for the size.
Carr's weird throw that Corey easily hauled in was "an affordable" play, and I'll take that all night long.
WRs looked outstanding. Kupp's tough chain mover in the second half was terrific.Cooks over the middle and ducking before getting beheaded was sweet, too.
Add Malcom Brown's nifty tracking of an off target ball.
Goff overthrowing his deep balls a couple of times still made for exciting play, and help loosen some schemes up.
Pass protection might have been the best I can remember seeing;
McVay had some calls I loved. Back to back screens. Some outlandish play action work that had me surprised, too.
Goff might have had some "lock ons" and was lucky not to get picke. However, he threw nice balls in tight coverage, and especially like he saw Kupp for the TD.
In some ways, this did have the feel of a preseason match. And the team improved as the game went on.
A short week ahead, and already worked up for the home opener
About Jared Cook. Gotta tackle him lower and wrap up. Saw JJ make a textbook such tackle later in the game and the Raider dropped like a sack of potatoes.
Kupp has spoiled us, hasn’t he? What a steal he was.
McVay also sprinkled in some sweeps with Cooks and Kupp. One with Woods, too, I think. Those suckers will really loosen up a D, I’ll tell you that. If I were a DC, I would HATE to prepare to defend against McVay.
I’m just gonna say it. Both the O and the D looked very rusty, especially the O. Man, I was frustrated early on. The price we had to pay for resting starters for 4 PS games. Coulda been fatal but for halftime adjustments and elite vets gradually settling in.
However, I must also say this. S&M have assembled a loaded roster on O, D, and ST. With such players, capable coaches such as McVay and Wade can scheme and adjust on the fly when necessary. Few are the teams that can overmatch any of these three units. This Raider game was an excellent example. Rams struggled to adapt throughout the first half, although they did keep it close. But after the adjustments on both sides of the ball, the Rams dominated the second half and won by 20 going away. This was far better than what the Packers did on Sunday night, when you think about it. No superhuman miracle finish was needed for the Rams.
This Ram team is the best balanced and most complete Ram team I’ve seen since at least 2001.
