Naturally, it helps to get a good start. But it's what happens later in the year that counts the most.
Good teams peak at playoff time. Other teams peak early in the season and then tail off as the year goes on.
I don't put a lot of stock in the first quarter of the season. You don't want to dig yourself into a hole; but you also don't want to put so much into preseason training and games that b;y mid-season guys are worn out and all their emotional energy is used up.
So while I of course want (and predict) a Rams win tonight, the result is only one game. And, as good fortune would have it, the Rams can do no worse than to stay even in the NFC West.
