I like the intention of the new helmet rule but like most everyone else thinks, they crapped the bed on this..

This rule should've only been applied to obvious black and white helmet spearing and wicked hits involving the crown of the helmet against a defenseless player that doesn't first or simultaneously lower his head at the point of contact.

(It shouldn't matter weather it's the offensive or defensive player.)

When an offensive player has the ball and is advancing down the field picking up full speed and lowers his torso or helmet, the defensive player should have an equal right to lower his posture and head to brace the impact to protect himself from the player attacking forward momentum.

The same should be considered when a defensive player lowers his torso first then head to make a legitimate form tackle.

I could go on and on in details but I believe most of us are on the same level with how this rule is too hard to implement with a black and white decision during live action play. It needs to be refined already with the reality of physics and angles applied to real time speed. I hope they find a happy medium before the season starts.

I'm not saying I have the perfect solution but the NFL knows they damn well need to refine this rule before the 2018 regular season starts..
