Yeah, the Rams have- by my rough count- maybe 8 or 9 'open' (i.e. competitive) roster spots they're figuring out. One being, for example, the 3rd RB spot. Plus the practice squad. So I think early preseason games are mainly about trying to shake out those spots, get your draft class as many reps as possible, get your QB2 as much work as possible, and stay healthy. That's really it. Not like the 1980s when starters played probably 8-10 quarters during preseason.
I really think, especially with having had two days of joint practices, that their presumed starters/key backups should get about 3 series of work in game 2 and a half of game 3 and they're done.
