Well it's supposed to tell you a lot. These BS PS games are an evaluating tool for the coaches to make future cuts. Actually nothing else is going on. Unfortunately I didn't think many of the Rams youngsters proved much except that they can't compete with the Ravens starters on their field. I do believe that the practices probably showed more. So I don't get why we even showed up for this game. In the NBA the starting 5 of each team play against each other and mostly the bench players square off against their counterparts. The same should be true in NFL. The Ravens starters were in the field. We should send ours out to oppose them. The HCs could even work this out since it is a practice game and they just worked out together. Everyone plays the first quarter. Or two series. Whatever. What went in week 17 last season and last night was just embarrassing.
But the evaluation of 90 players does not mean you have to win or they all suck. The evaluation comes from coaches watching film. For us, without knowing the details, we have no idea who they will grade as effective and capable of making the final 53. They could suck as a team all night but then later film could reveal that x number of players are progressing well and capable of holding their own. Basically no fan could ever know that.
During the season they are never going to start 22 back-ups all at once, unless it's a pointless game like week 17 v. SF when they had already sealed the division.
