Interestingly yesterday on Colin Cowherd show Albert Breer was on talking about AD and Mack.
He talked about when Suh signed his contract for 19 million a year, in 2015 that his contract was 86 %
of QB money. And that a year later Von Miller average was the same 19 million. And that the number for
top defensive players has stagnated . And with that same 19 million only equals to 66% of QB money now.
So it seems that AD and Mack's agents are trying to close that gap back up. To get there it would be
around 25 million. So the Rams are going to pay at least 23/24 million.
All makes sense.
The thing is, I don't think the league should be so threatened by this. How many players can really claim the "best defender" title? Since 2014 it has been 4...Watt, Von Miller, Donald, and Mack. Yet every year a qb comes up. Soon enough it will be Mariota, Prescott, Wentz, and Goff. So qb contracts are just going to go up anyway. IMO even if AD got 25 M (which he won't) by 2021, the probable year for JG's new deal, that would look tame compared to qb deals.
