Chargers compromised on cash flow in years 2,3,4 + gave Joey Bosa largest upfront signing bonus in Chargers history; SD got offset language.
That report muddles it a bit (which IMO is typical of a lot of NFL reporting on contracts) because the issue was never the size of the bonus, it was when it got distributed. Bosa took this compromise: SD got its offset language so they can drop the whole deal after year 3 (lol like Bosa was ever going to worry about that)...and then he gets the signing bonus in his first season and not later.
Bosa signed before the season but then got hurt and missed some games. And as we know, when he then got on the field he made SD/LA look smart for picking him.
