On the surface it seems that he risked a 9 figure payout just to play for a few million (or whatever it was)
Something to do with the CBA?
Rams had no money to do a "reasonable" deal last year?
Saw the Colts game and didn't want to hold out any longer?
I think he hired this particular agency because he didn't want to play for the Rams with Fisher as the coach... See helmet slam against niners. I just think he was frustrated. On the other hand, with McVay, its a entirely new culture.
So why doesn't Donald just fire his agent and get someone who will work toward getting a deal done as opposed to getting THE deal done? Did he override his agent's advice last year and play? Will Donald just let it play out until the end of preseason and then sign the deal so he can play? Defying his agent again (if he ever did so in the first place)
My stance is that we aren't going to know anything until preseason is over... leaks, talking heads, tough talking GM's... If the leak is true and the gap is $4 million/year then I can't see how that isn't close enough to get something done. But who knows?
