Very subtle, IMO, in the way he never mentioned Fisher in any of the draft moves. Les makes it sound like he was the man doing the picks.
Whenever you see an article on Snead and his record that focuses on Snead's view, he always takes all the credit. Even though we know that drafting with the Rams did not work that way---for example Donald was as much Fisher and Williams as Snead. We know that.
One of the things you have to put up with with Snead is that every single article that is built around his viewpoint, where he's both the topic and the central source, makes it appear as it it was all him.
That's been true all along.
It has nothing to do with Fisher. That's just the way Snead is. Always has been.
Fisher was talking last year like he was totally responsible for the building of the roster. Those were “his” picks.
Now we will hear more and more that they were Snead’s picks all along. Rightly or wrongly.
If the Rams get to the SB this year, there will be little talk of Fisher in the positive, and much about Snead being GM of the year.
We know the real record drafting and how they drafted. Snead's tendency to make it all him is just completely false. It's not all him NOW either. Excluding McVay and Kromer and Phillips from the draft story makes just as wrong a picture as excluding Fisher and Williams. False narrative is false narrative.
And it has nothing to do with "the victor" because in fact Snead has always talked about things that way. It's just this tendency he has. He did it early and he is doing it now. If you listen to just Snead you never get a genuine picture of how they drafted. He's always making himself the hero of the story. That's just Snead's "way."
Remember this is coming from someone who has defended Snead all along and still does.
One thing I will say---he does not shuffle off the blame. In that article he acts as if Robinson was solely his pick. Well he wasn't. No Rams pick ever goes solely to the GM. That's just not how their draft process works, and never has been. BUT if he's going to take all the credit he might as well step up and take all the blame for the bad things, even though that's not the real story either.
