I picked up on that long ago...that Demoff was responsible for this recent change... it began when they removed the gold pants altogether... then in St Louis the endzone became blue with ST LOUIS in white
From 2007-2011 the Rams had three colors for pants: white, metallic gold, and navy blue. It was reported that in 2012 the NFL told the Rams they could only use two colors for their pants. I read one article that said the players were the ones who chose to keep blue and white and a different source stated it was Fisher who decided on keeping blue and white. In June 2012 there was a chat with Demoff in which someone asked a uniform question. Demoff's response was: "The gold pants are out. The NFL mandates we can only have two pants colors and the players chose blue and white, so the gold is temporarily on hiatus."
My preference would have been to keep the metallic gold and white. I don't understand how the Rams were able to get away with using three colors for that five year period. Also, if teams can only have two colors, how come the Titans currently have 3 (dark blue, powder blue, and white)? Two years ago the Browns also had 3 (brown, white, orange). So what's up with that? The NFL rules regarding jerseys is pretty clear. But rules regarding pants is a bit murkier. There isn't anything that I can find in the rules that states a team can only have x number of colors for pants. However, most teams do only have 2 pants colors (excluding throwbacks and Color Rush).
Can anybody shed more light on what the requirements for pants are?
