As I've said repeatedly, these guys know exactly what they're doing. Its all part of their big plan for the rebrand in 2020. Just throw a bone to the complaining fans until they get to 2020. They don't really care if it looks stupid now, in fact, I would argue that they see value in it. They want the rebrand to have no competition from an existing design.
