With signing players?
Yeah sure. He has zero to do with assessing value...absolutely nothing. He is Tahiti with no cell phone and possible contact when these things go down.
I guarantee he has significant input. He may not pull the trigger but he sits in these discussions. So I don't buy that $$*%+%!
Hasn't Snead said we have a budget? Oh...he and McVay just sit back and watch us lose players. Oookay.
That doesn't even make sense....on any type of business!
First of all I never said he doesn't have input. What I said was he does not negotiate contracts and he doesn't. he brings in talent and works with agents and the coaching staff. He then goes to Pastoors and Demoff and says we really want this guy, we value his talents to help us win football games a great deal, here are his demands, the money guys then work with the players agent with Snead in attendance to try and structure a contract that works for the player and the team, bottom line is the Money guys are responsible for maintaining the cap structure not Snead.
a typical conversation might go like this. Snead says, we really need this player, and his agent says he will want 12 mil per year. who do you think he's talking to? its Pastoors and Demoff. He's more than likely already discussed the player acquisition with the coaching staff and they buy off on the players talent.
Now the money guys take over to try and work that players financial demands into the structure of the salary cap that they have outlined to see if it can be worked. IF that contract is too much for the salary cap to handle then chances are the player does not sign with the team. But that would not be Sneads fault.
