They will probably do it by the beginning of this season. Waiting until next year usually doesn’t work.
The major criticism on Cooks is his size and DBs pushing him around. It will be interesting to see if/how McVay deals with that supposed deficiency.
Great point on Watkins/Cooks and his getting paid max. I couldn't agree more. But, If Cooks "over values" himself or doesn't perform as McVay wants, he won't get paid.
Not sure I buy into the he gets "pushed around" stuff. I think that was overblown in the ridiculous "smurf" thread someone started a while ago. If Cooks gets "pushed around" and STILL puts up similar stats to his last 3 years it is fine by me. IMO, Cooks is twice the WR Sammy is and his stats will show that after this season is over.
Bad approach.
You sign him now or pay A LOT more when he is a free agent with risk of losing him.
