I think of comp thirds as early fourths, really.

Rams traded or received 28 different draft picks.

The Rams only drafted with their original pick in the fifth round and that pick was traded for Talib and traded back for two sixth round picks.

At various times the Rams held nine different sixth round draft picks.

The Rams already are missing their 2nd and 7th from next year, the same picks they were missing this year when the season ended. Although the Rams expect two thirds and a sixth based on calculations of lost free agents.

But they're still really helpful.

I liked that McSnead were extremely busy moving chess pieces all over the place, but a little disappointed that they didn't trade 2018 picks for 2019. Perhaps they tried to and we just never heard about it. But especially when they started piling up those sixth rounders, and got up into the hundreds, they should have traded at least a dozen of two of them for 2019.

That's gonna usually yield a full round earlier, or better. I just think that's smart chess. But, as always, it takes two to tango, and they may just not have had any takers.

True. Early 3rds much more valuable than later 3rds.
