Re: Why the Rams Didn’t Bundle Picks to Trade Up

I think it is a matter of building the back end of the roster. We have acquired the players who will take up the majority of the salary cap--Donald, Peters, Goff, Gurley, LaMarcus, Woods, Whitworth, Talib, Suh, Cooks, etc.

We need depth. We need developmental players at a low price to produce the next wave of Sullivans, Havensteins, Barrons, Brockers, etc. Would any edge player in the second round start in front of Samson? I dont think so. Any ILB ahead of Littleton or Barron? Probably not. We are in a position where we don't need starters. Its not like when Fisher took over and we had nothing at cornerback and a broken down, declining Lauranitis at MLB.

I much prefer quantity of picks of lesser higher end picks. Especially in this draft which had around 15-20 first round caliber players.

We picked up alot of good talent. In two years three of these guys may start. You think the Rams are going to pay Havenstein 10 mil plus per year? What about Jamon Brown? Will he get a deal? When you start winning players cost alot more.
