The way it works you always seem to get extra when you when you trade picks in the current year for picks the following season.

Trade a 3rd for a 2nd, a 4th for a 3rd and a 6th for a 5th.

I expect that we will have a couple of extra 3rd rounders next season as comp picks for Watkins and TruJo.

Trading away picks this year for future upgraded picks is a NE move and is good for long term value building.

I also think that picking a QB in the 4th round should be a consideration from a value 2nd string development type. Falk would be on my radar if he falls.

Ok...sounds good but you've got to have someone willing to trade with you. I looked up last year's draft and there was 3 of those kind of trades. A pick in the current year for a pick in the next year's draft but a round higher.

It just doesn't happen that much. Teams are reluctant to give up future picks.
