As Ram GM, would you trade into Round One for anyone this year?

April 23, 2018 08:59AM
My instinct is to do that as rarely as possible, even when I have all my picks and plenty of stuff to trade. When I know I don't have that, and would have to pull some rabbits out of the hat, it's pretty much never.

But there is one player who intrigues me enough to at least sit my scouts, coaches and "idea guys" down in a room and see if there's even a ghost of a chance to make something happen:

Tremaine Edmunds.

He doesn't even turn twenty until May, which means he's likely the youngest rookie ever in league history come September. A physical freak already, with the size, speed, agility and explosion to play DE or OLB, he would give the Rams just what they need to all but complete defensive dominance for years to come. And he's yet to fully grow into his body.

In general, I love it when a team can draft a young player out of college, in relative terms. Gurley was just 21 as a rook, for instance. This gives the team the possibility of far more peak years. With Edmunds, they have a shot at a full ten years of that peak, give or take. That's basically unheard of.

So, folks, who would you -- if anyone -- trade up for this year, knowing in advance how short you are on resources for those trades? As a side question, would a normal year (with increased trade assets) change your mind and make you more likely to want to do this?
