Summing up what I think we will see this week...
1) I'm in Dallas and will be attending the draft festivities Thursday outside of the stadium. Unfortunately, tickets are sky high and with no #1, I would never pay to see the draft inside. Weather forecast --- sunny and 73.
2) I believe Snead will look for a way to trade up in the draft. I agree and I have this uneasy feeling its for Tyrell Crosby. Not that I don't like Crosby, its that I like next years crop of OTs better. Obviously by next draft season that opinion could change (and will) I just see ILB and Edge needed so much more.
3) My top three positions for our first pick include edge rusher, inside linebacker and tight end. While I prefer to draft BPA, we are picking in an area where you start filling holes unless someone drops. I think these three areas are our biggest holes. For me its really OLB or Edge, I get that you want a TE badly and if one really good one falls I guess it could happen, but that almost screams failure on McVays part, and I don't think they will give up on Everett that quickly.
4) I see possibly two trade ups. There aren't just enough roster positions to justify using all the picks we have available at this time. I really see McSnead targeting 4 or 5 guys and trading up and down to get those guys. I can see moving up from the 6th to the 5th and back from the 6th to the 7th.
5) Other picks may include edge rusher, inside/outside linebacker, tight end, offensive line, running back. I don't see picks at quarterback, wide receiver, 0 gap defensive tackle, cornerback, safety. I think a S/CB combo guy is def. in play for some reason. And what I mean by a combo guy is like JJ3 from last year a guy that has played CB and S in college or a guy that played CB in college and could switch to S in the pros. I'm not so sure on the WR either. Maybe like you and a TE, I am hoping for a bigger endzone guy.
6) I think the #1 pick in the draft will be Sam Darnold...even though I don't think he is all that.I like Darnold and agree he should be the pick. If I knew how unlikeable Rosen really is/isn't I would say he should be the pick. He is the best thrower in the draft with the cleanest footwork. His quirkiness and injury history muddies the water though.
